Win a Family Mini Session!! | Moses Lake Photography

Picture it now -

You are snuggled up in your nice warm cozy house, sipping gourmet hot chocolate out of your favorite mug. On your cheerily decorated kitchen table is a stack of gorgeous Christmas cards just waiting for you to lovingly place them in a sturdy envelope and send them all over the snow covered world. Your friends will all be envious of your perfectly posed portrait and delicious custom designed cards...

Hehehe - I should have been a writer!! Just kidding. I couldn't stand creative writing in school.

Okay - so here's the contest!! Email me a copy of your funniest family picture (see example below) and a little blurb about it. I will choose my favorite 4 and will post them on my blog for the world to see. Voting will begin and the family who owns the picture that gets voted 'The Most Funny Family Picture' will be awarded a Family Mini Session. The session will include an hour at a mutually agreed upon location (Moses Lake area), online proofing and 50 delicious Christmas cards created by yours truly. All in time to send out for Christmas delivery. :)

Yep - this is my family. I'm not telling you which kid is me. :)

Entries will be taken until November 12th so don't wait around to send them in. Email them to info@colleendonovan.com along with your full name and phone number. Don't forget your blurb!

For the Mommas...

Marian Wright Edelman, American Activist, Families in Peril

We must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily difference we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee.

Loved this quote! There are times when a mom's life seems tedious. Laundry is never ending, messes appear out of nowhere (and usually in the same spot you just cleaned 5 minutes ago), something is always lost, etc.

I like to remember that I'm serving my family and that the little things I do for them are what matter the most. Besides - how can you not laugh and love them when in the five minutes you took to go to the bathroom they have dumped a bag of flour on the floor, greased up your L series lens, poured white fingernail polish all over the counter and your camera and let the muddy dog in the house??? Hehehehehehe!!!!

I didn't get the chance to post this on Wallpaper Wednesday (a lot of life happens while you're feeding a baby!) so I'm adding it today. I hope you all have a super fun, super safe Halloween. If you happen to have any extra candy you don't want you can go ahead and send it to me. My address is po box... :)

Max | Moses Lake Baby Photographer

Yep - you'll be seeing lots of him. :) To not take advantage of having a baby in the house would be a crime!! He's almost two weeks old already - I wish it didn't go by so fast!

Cake Wrecks | Moses Lake Wedding Photography

Hahahaha! Hehehe! You have to check out this blog - it isn't all wedding cakes but if you read all of the captions you'll have to go to the bathroom. Thankfully every wedding cake I've photographed so far has been beautiful! The evil side of me says it would be kind of fun to have one that wasn't so... pretty. :)

Blessings...

I love Sunday. There's a song we sing at church that I enjoy - the beginning goes like this -

When upon life's billows you are tempest tossed,
When you are discouraged thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings,
Name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord has done...

I'm not discouraged and there are currently no billows to ride out but I like to hum this to myself during the good times too. I have too many blessings to count, and I don't try, but I thought I'd share a few of them with you. I'd be ungrateful if I didn't acknowledge all the good that I have in my life...

My most favorite blessings -
My husband and my babies
Our home
My soft cozy bed
Having a knowledge and testimony of the gospel
Friends
Having shoes that fit and clothes to wear
The outdoors (especially rivers to swim in and beaches to comb)
My photography business
My husband always having a job
Music
Technology
Having two cars
Living in a place with four seasons
Good doctors and hospitals (and awesome nurses!)
My kids going to a safe school

I need to do a better job at being grateful. I suppose as long as I'm trying my best it'll be alright!

Obama Family Portrait

What do you think of the Obama's family portrait shot by Annie Leibovitz???

We are having a really interesting conversation about it on one of the photo forums I frequent and I'm wondering what people who might not be photographers think about it.

Like it? Love it? Don't like it so much?? Tell me! :)

Mr. Max

Is finally here! I'm still tired so I've been procrastinating a bit on the blog. Honestly, I don't even want to look at the computer right now cause I'm too busy staring at my new baby. It's a miracle everytime and they get big way, way too fast. Breaks my heart a little. :( Anyway, he was born Thursday the 15th and weighed 9lbs and 1oz. So far he's been really quiet and I'm actually starting to wonder if he's really one of mine. Hehehe...

We love him and will keep him forever and ever...

Baby, baby...

Hey everyone!

So... just wanted to post a little update! No baby yet - we were supposed to be induced today, but there wasn't any room at the hospital. :( Hopefully we'll be able to see this baby tomorrow! I appreciate all your well wishes and emails - you make me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside.

Please continue to email me - I'll respond as soon as possible!!

We'll have our own basketball team! Woo hoo!!

Moses Lake and one of it's famous sunsets...

Had to share a pretty picture today. I took this last week on the way to my daughter's first volleyball game. Can I just say that after playing all through high school that sitting and WATCHING her play the same sports I did is TORTURE?!! Pure torture. And I so want to yell and be one of those embarassing stage mothers, but I don't. I am so good. :)

Anyway - the sunsets around this area are amazing and you can pretty much count on them at least through the entire summer. There are some really nice ones in the winter and in between too.

On a personal note - this baby boy is due October 15th and he'll probably be making his appearance sometime this coming week. Please feel free to continue to email me about sessions and weddings though - it's a good thing you can't hear babies crying over email! :) See you soon!
